What is BambooHR AI?

BambooHR AI refers to features or functionality made available by BambooHR that utilize artificial intelligence trained by machine learning using BambooHR and third-party data models. Current AI features include:

  • eNPS AI topic summaries: Uses AI to parse the free responses in your eNPS survey to extract themes and topics
  • AI summarized feedback: Uses AI to quickly summarize peer and upward feedback, offering concise and actionable insights and saving time on analysis
  • Ask BambooHR: Uses AI to answer routine HR questions for employees and provide key insights for admins
  • AI-generated peer groups: Uses AI to automatically create a benchmarking peer group for comparison in several standard reports based on headcount, industry, and location, providing immediate and precise benchmarking insights
What terms govern the AI features?

The AI Addendum is incorporated into BambooHR's Terms of Service, and governs customer access and use of any BambooHR AI feature.

Are BambooHR's AI features compliant with AI laws?

Yes, BambooHR has conducted a third party risk assessment to ensure compliance with applicable AI laws, including The EU AI Act. In 2025, we will be actively implementing requirements according to upcoming compliance deadlines. We have a dedicated legal and compliance team that is monitoring new laws that apply to AI and will comply with those laws and regulations as they arise.

How do I access BambooHR's AI features?

The AI features that our customers can access depend on the package to which they are currently subscribed. Most AI features are not turned on by default, and you are in control of activating them for you and your employees. An exception to this is Ask BambooHR, which may be automatically activated in your account. If you need to deactivate it, navigate to Settings > Ask BambooHR and then click Turn Off in the top right corner.

If you are interested in using BambooHR AI features, you can upgrade your account in Account Settings or contact your Expansion representative to learn more.

Does BambooHR use customer data to train AI models?

No, BambooHR does not use any customer data to train proprietary or third-party artificial intelligence models.
