Purpose: To help you understand how you can use the Ask BambooHR feature to receive fast, accurate answers to your time off and benefits data, as well as questions related to your company directory and policies.

What is Ask BambooHR?

Ask BambooHR is a virtual HR assistant that allows you to enter questions in a conversational format and receive answers based on the information HR admins have given you access to. This feature is powered by AI, and we recommend reviewing the source materials provided in each answer.

How do I use Ask BambooHR?

Home

To open Ask BambooHR, simply click Ask in the top right corner of your BambooHR account. This accessible location makes it easy for you to find answers to your questions wherever you are in your account.

Please keep in mind you are interacting with an artificial intelligence system and not a human being. BambooHR Assistant can make mistakes. Consider double checking important information. HR can access your chat history.

A chat module will appear in the bottom right corner of your account. Click into the text box and start typing in your question. The following are some examples of common HR questions asked by employees: 

  • "What's our parental leave policy?"
  • "How much PTO do full-time employees receive?"
  • "When's our next company holiday?"
  • "How do I request time off?"
  • "What are my health insurance options?"
  • "How do I request time off?"
  • "When's our next payday?"
  • "Will the company help pay for college tuition?"
  • "How often can I replace my glasses?"
  • "How do I refer a candidate?"

Once you enter your question, click the Enter key or the send icon. Ask BambooHR will start calculating a response to your question based on your company's information. In the response, you may notice a list of source materials. Each source has a link to a specific file that contains the information you asked about. This ensures you can easily check and review additional information related to your question. You can also expand the chat view to access previous conversations.

Mobile app

If you use our BambooHR mobile app, you will be able to access Ask BambooHR (top right corner) from anywhere within the app. This feature is useful if you are away from the office and need to find specific employee or company information.

Once you click Ask, ask your question and see what answer is provided. You can also swipe through the conversation thread to view your history. Ask BambooHR is easy and simple to use, saving you time when looking for answers to your HR questions!

You can use Siri on iOS to access Ask BambooHR. Just say, "Hey Siri, Ask BambooHR a question," and Siri will prompt you to ask your question. Siri will then relay your question to Ask BambooHR and provide the answer. To disable this feature, turn off Siri in your iOS settings.
