Purpose: The purpose of this guide is to explain the steps and tasks you will need to complete within the Company Setup modules of BambooHR Onboarding.

Please keep in mind that each onboarding module is dynamic and tailored to which products and add-ons are included in your subscription. The guide below will outline the primary steps/tasks you will need to complete in the Company Setup module if you are only implementing the core functions of our BambooHR product, however, you may see additional steps if you have add-on products such as Payroll.

To complete the Company Setup module, navigate to Home. A module will appear at the top of your homepage with a button to Start/Continue Setup. Clicking this button will redirect you to all of the available onboarding modules for your company. Locate the Company Setup module and click the arrow to begin.

You will select the primary contact for the HR Onboarding experience by selecting from the dropdown menu. The dropdown menu includes all existing Full Admins, including the Account owner, in the account. Any of them can be selected as the HR contact. If someone who is not already a Full Admin should be designated as the HR contact, you can add a new person to the list by clicking Add at the bottom of the dropdown.

You must provide the First Name, Last Name, Work Email, and Work Phone for the new contact. The remaining details can be populated later as part of the Employee Data module.When you click Add Employee, the user will be given Full Admin access to the account. You will need to confirm this access by selecting Give Admin Access. This will trigger a notification to the new user, allowing them to login and access your BambooHR account. Clicking Cancel or the X on any of the screens will return you to the HR Contact task without saving the new user’s profile.

Once the appropriate contacts have been selected, proceed to the Contact Confirmation task and review the selected contacts. Click the pencil icon to edit the contact information if necessary. Details can be edited for the selected contact, or a new contact can be selected from the dropdown menu. Any changes made to the contact’s information will be reflected on the contact’s BambooHR profile.

Clicking Next on the confirmation task will mark the Contact step complete and advance the user to the next step.

The Intro step includes a short video explaining the overall onboarding process. Clicking Done will mark the Intro step complete and you can then advance to the next step.

The next step will walk you through setting up your default Settings in BambooHR. The number of tasks in the Settings step depends on which onboarding experiences you are assigned based on any add-on products or features.

Step 1 - Choose your settings

Choose your preferred Date Input Format, Number Format, Time zone, and Default Country on this page. The dropdowns mirror the dropdowns available in Settings, and any changes made in either place are reflected in the other.

Step 2 - Logo Task

In this task you will be able to add or change your company logo. The experience mirrors the Logo section in Settings, and any changes made in either place are reflected in the other.

Step 3 - Color Task

This task allows you to add a color scheme to your account. The experience mirrors the Color section in Settings, and any changes made in either place are reflected in the other. Note that the account does not change in real time when a new color is selected. The changes only take effect once the Next button is clicked. Clicking Next on this task will mark the step complete, unless you are also onboarding with Payroll. Click here for more information on which steps are added for Payroll Onboarding.

The Locations step mirrors the Locations section from Settings > Employee Fields. Any changes made in either place are reflected in the other. Locations can be added, edited, or deleted from this screen.

If you are brand new to BambooHR, you will likely use this screen to set up all of your company locations by clicking + Add Location. Verify that all physical addresses are typed correctly and have the Address Line 1, City, State, Zip Code, and County fields completed. We use the United States Postal Service database to verify addresses are correct.

If you have remote employees, set up a remote location and assign them to that location by checking the box next to This location is for remote employees. BambooHR will then use the employee's home address set up in their Personal tab. Please verify that those working in a remote location also have their correct home address.

If you are a returning customer setting up a new company EIN, your Locations list will likely already have information in it. Verify that all addresses are up to date and correct. Clicking Done marks the step complete and advances the user to the next step.
