What are the available email notifications for time off?

Purpose: Automatic time off email notifications can help you ensure that users respond to requests promptly. This help guide will show you an example of each email notification available for time off information.

Email notifications from BambooHR are sent from notifications@app.bamboohr.com.

Time off requested

When an employee requests time off in BambooHR, the designated approver will receive an email notification with a link to take action on the request.

Negative time off balance

If an employee makes a request that would give them a negative balance, a highlighted message will be displayed in the email notification.

When making a time off request that would result in a negative balance, the requester will see a warning. They must click Submit Request again to send the request in.

Please note: If an employee's future time off request is approved and they later request additional time off that would result in the original request pushing their balance into the negative, our system will not flag this. We recommend that those approving time off always check the employee's time off balance before approving their request.

Time off canceled

When an employee cancels a time off request in BambooHR, the approver* of the request will receive an email notification about the canceled request. If the employee cancels the time off request before the approver responds to the request, the email notification will still be sent.

*If the request is part of a multi-level approval workflow, the approver(s) who approved the request and the next approver (who has not yet approved the request) will receive the notification. If the first approver has not approved the request, only they will be notified about the cancelation.

Time off approved

When the designated approver approves the time off request in BambooHR, the employee who submitted the request will receive an email notification regarding the approval.

Time off denied

When the designated approver denies the time off request in BambooHR, the employee who submitted the request will receive an email notification regarding the denied request.
