How do I preview BambooHR as another user?

Purpose: We understand that granting employees access can be a little intimidating at first, which is why we have the preview feature. When you enable access for a new user, you can preview the system as the user, so you can be sure they cannot see anything they should not. This guide will teach you how to preview BambooHR from another user's perspective.

Preview as a user

Only the Account Owner and Full Admin users have the ability to preview the system as another user.

In preview mode, you will see a message at the top of the screen that lets you know who you are viewing BambooHR as. When you are ready to exit the preview, click Done Previewing.

While previewing, you will be able to access almost everything a user has access to do, with the following exceptions:

  • You cannot request time off while you are previewing another individual.
  • You cannot edit information with approval while you are previewing another employee's My Info tab.
  • You cannot access another user's password or API Key.
  • You cannot sign documents for other users.
  • You cannot view Performance Management information (peer feedback or manager assessment) written about you.
  • You cannot clock in or out to a shift for another employee (Time & Attendance customers only) .
  • You cannot complete enrollment for an employee in Benefits Administration.

Employee profile

On an employee profile, go to the action menu (three-dot icon) and select View BambooHR as [Employee Name].

In Settings > Access Levels, hover your mouse over a user's name and click on the preview option (eye icon), which will then show "View BambooHR as [Employee Name]."
